As I was working, I noticed that the sky was unbelievably dark. Everything became eerily calm. It was then that I noticed this funnel cloud beginning to form. The couple who pulled up next to me were just as much in awe as I was an none of us could say a word. I could clearly see some serious rotation, and then it dissipated after about 5 minutes or so.

I agree. I was driving on HWY. 16 and saw it to. It was defintiely spinning, but very slowly. Rain can't pull a cloud down, but a downdraft can and will. This was a cloud alright, but of the funnel variety.

Rain doesn't pull clouds down like that, but the wind can. I showed this to a retired Air Force meteorologist who said she saw it as well, and it was the beginning of a funnel cloud, albeit short lived.

I agree. I saw this as well and it was just rain pulling the cloud. It was a nasty storm though

That wasn't a funnel cloud. I saw it too and it didn't have any rotation. It was just a cloud.
