At first I couldn't tell what I was looking at when I turned to check out the sunset this afternoon. Was it a fire? Was it a funnel cloud? No, just some strange storm clouds coming up over the Olympic mountains just as the sun was setting. At the angle that I was in Seattle it looked like a strange glowing nuclear explosion. It was beautiful really, I've never see anything like it. It's so bizarre and serene at the same time that I just had to share. You don't get too many afternoons like this, that's for sure. Enjoy!

Saw these yesterday p.m., too. Looks like a thunderhead that is topping off as it hits a higher layer of pressue. l grew up in Illinois where these quite common in warmer weather. I always called them 'anvil clouds' back then ...
