This short video is to demonstrate how necessary the move over law is. With all the distractions drivers have it is scary to know that they are passing by people on the shoulder at speeds of 60-70 mph with only a couple of feet between them.

THANK YOU..MOVE OVER PEOPLE, PLEASE...my husband builds highways in Texas and it scares the life out of me to see how people fly through construction zones too, without any regard for the lives of the men and women in those zones.

In Coos Bay I see this careless driving more then anywhere. STOP CHANGING LANES IN THE INTERSECTION-ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING FROM ANOTHER STREET. IT is Illegal and dangerous-unless you are driving an 18 wheeler there's no excuse. Maintain Your Lane!!!

@russ should they hit you, at least you get all your bills paid and a new car. Plus he loses his license. @SafetyMan, I agree and a good point. Infact this should be on the drivers Test.

I don't know what Russ is talking about or how that's relevant, but truck drivers rarely do such silly behavior. Please just move over; if huge tractor trailers can (and usually do, at least down here in TX), so can YOU! Even if it's not convenient.

what i really hate seeing is a semi truck that is riding your bumper, if you ever had to stop real fast you are going to get hit. truck drivers i have talked to said that when cars get in the way they just feel like running over them.

and passed for good reason, but only if they are enforced. P.S. The same people this law was written for, are the same ones that the seatbelt and cell phone laws were passed for! You know, the ones who forget to put the toilet seat down.etc., etc.

But hey, you can't put a $ amount on anything that may save lives. Since police are already busy at the time of these infractions, I suggest a few "placed" lit-up emergency vehicles with an officer there that is available to pursue. A law is written-

Isn't it sad that we need, and have to pass, laws that fall under "common sense"! They are a waste of taxpayer dollars in many respects. But at least the state should recoup most of those dollars through citations. Please see my next post/comment.

In Oregon, signs are posted about the move over law. I see trucks on I-84 always moving over, even for stopped cars and trucks on the side of the highway. Or slow speed 5-10 mph if they can't move over.

I was shocked when I saw this video. I always move over a lane or slow to 35 mph if I cant move over when passing emergency vehicles on the side of the road to include tow trucks cop cars and medical vehicals. This state has some of the worst drivers

The Move Over Law is one of MANY that people probably don't know about. I think a 'Driving Tip of the Day' should be broadcast on all local TV and radio news shows. This may assist people in knowing about the laws.
