I rounded the corner to the blue tees at the 7th tee box at Mount Si Golf Course and nearly jumped out of my spikes at the sight of a giant crow. How big is that crow? He is as big as a turkey. He is as big as an eagle. He is as big as a raccoon. He is perched on a rock and is as regal as any mounted conquistador in any plaza in the world. This particular crow is in the middle of lunch. This day it appears his dinner is not a peanut butter sandwich pilfered from a disappointed soon-to-be-hungry golfers bag but someone's gleaming white golf ball displayed proudly mid beak. This black silk bird of pb&j prey is a permanent fixture on that rock at hole 7 fashioned of sheet metal. Golf course art is just one of the perks of being a golfer. At Riverbend last year they had their own little Stonehenge. Every time I walked from 10 to 11 I looked to see what the golfmasons had done to change a teetering legolike totem pole of stacked rocks. That"s gone now, construction finished and all the little boulders carted away. But there is still the throne at Brookdale. Have you seen that?

A golfer, a writer, what will this talented lady do next! But you did forget the wood sculptures at High Cedars.

To Heather re High Cedars wood sculptures: Mt Si replaced a lost KP-free-round certificate complete with a get well after the robbery note. I hit a golf show bulls eye chip for another free round. Mt. Si deserves 2 rounds worth of free pub from me.
