(Poulsbo, North Kitsap County) A Poulsbo couple was awakened by police to find tall flames reaching from their garage roof towards nearby trees.
Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to a residential structure fire this morning just after 2am on Lemolo Shores near Highway 305. Neighbors called 911 after noticing the large flames. When units arrived on scene, they found a 22 foot camper trailer engulfed in flames and the nearby detached garage ignited as well. The fire was rapidly spreading to the garage siding and roof eaves. A fire engine was in the area responding to a transformer which had recently blown and were able to respond quickly. The fire was under control within 10 minutes.
The 49 male and his 59 year old wife were uninjured. The wife said "I am very glad our neighbors noticed the flames. I don't even want to imagine the outcome had no one noticed." The trailer and home were insured. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Kitsap County Fire Marshal, but firefighters say it appears to be electrical in nature due a possible power surge.
