This frost seems to be growing from rotten wood. A gentle warm breath melts it away like normal frost. What is this?

We saw this as well in the woods of Duvall this morning. I did a quick search and found this "Frost Flowers" http://www.its.caltech.edu/~atomic/snowcrystals/frost/frost.htm

The moisture comes out of live and dead trees... when the temp is dry and very cold, the water in the trees expands through it's pores freezing upon contact getting these 'Cotton Candy' effects. It's very cool and delicate. I've photographed many.
