(Clear Creek, North Kitsap) A Poulsbo couple and their son are unharmed after losing their shop and home to a fire this evening around 6:30 pm on Clear Creek, just south of Finn Hill.
Poulsbo Fire Department, Navy Region Northwest, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue, and Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and more than 20 firefighters battled the blaze. The fire, which began in the shop and spread to the nearby mobile home, was still smoldering four hours later.
The shop housed a 1977 Chevy Lowrider. All of the couple’s belongings in the mobile home are a loss and they were not insured. Total damage estimates are unavailable at this time.
The couple was home at the time of the fire. The 40 year old woman said, “I heard strange noises, like someone was walking on the roof. When I went outside to ask my husband what that noise was, I noticed flames coming from our shop roof.” The 48 year old husband then alerted his 25 year old son, who was asleep in a nearby motor home. Their dog escaped the fire but ran off and is still missing.
