Beautiful Larsen Lake in Bellevue seems to be a hidden gem in this bustling community. It's tucked away, quiet and beautiful. Yet so easily accessible off of 156th Street.
I went there recently with my son, and we had the entire place to ourselves. We enjoyed the lily pads, golden and green, floating on the water by the dock. And we enjoyed the thrill of the cooling breeze that comes with autumn. It rippled the water by the shore and blew the rushes that huddle up around the lake.
All around were trees with leaves changing color, and my son, who is 7, was excited by being able to walk out on the dock and be 'surrounded' by water while staying safe and warm.
On the way back to the car, we stopped at a little garden and he ran around a large grassy field. The wind blew the trees in a large gust, and his eyes got big. Then he smiled, the rush of the beauty and exitement of nature going through him.
It's a beautiful little respite in the midst of traffic and the bustling nature of this town. We stopped in there on the way home from school. It's easy to find and, in only a few minutes of walking around this beautiful place, you can regain your center.
