We've smelled the smoke for nearly a month and we've been told that we have nothing to worry about since the fires are in areas that are rocky and that they mostly burn the underbrush and will eventually burn out this fall. Well, as of tonight, that's changed. I can see flames from my back deck and I'm getting more than a little concerned. I understand their desire to let the fire burn to eliminate much of the underbrush and downed trees but this is now starting to concern many of the residents of this valley. We want assurance that something will be done to control this before its too late. There will be a meeting tomorrow night (Friday Aug 28th at 6pm) at the Brinnon Fire Department. I urge all concerned residents to show up and ask questions. We need honest answers not just some little pat on the head that's supposed to assure us that they are in control. There is no control of this fire and that's my real concern. When will they step up to the plate and bring in some helicopters and dump some water on this fire?

I live in Brady, (near Montesano) and have a great view of the Olympics from our farm. The wind has been blowing out of the east until today, now blowing out of the west. It's scary looking.
