(Poulsbo, Kitsap County) A group of Navy Seals from Naval Special Warfare, stationed in San Diego paid a visit to Poulsbo Fire Department today for a quick view into the life of a firefighter. They bunkered up and headed to Poulsbo Fire Department’s training tower. As part of the training exercise with firefighters SEAL Team members “rescued” a victim in a burning building. According to Public Information Officer Jody Matson, “They sure didn’t waste any time. Just as soon as they were finished with their drill, they were off to catch the ferry. They had to get back in time for the Mariner’s game; they are parachuting into Safeco Field.”
The SEALS are in the area for the SEAL Fitness Challenge held in Bellevue on Saturday, August 8th. This event is for ages 13 and older. For people interested in pursuing this career path and who have questions about special warfare, this is a good opportunity to explore and meet individuals who can answer any questions they might have. For more info about this event, visit http://www.sealfitnesschallenge.com/. Coordinator of today’s exercise, Firefighter Shane Keeley said, “This is also a great way to show your support for the military.” Keeley is former military himself and friends with a member of the SEALS.
