For Immediate Release: Kitsap Transit bus into utility pole
(Poulsbo, Kitsap County) Poulsbo Fire and Poulsbo Police Departments responded to a multiple injury collision for a Kitsap Transit bus versus utility pole at 10:15am. For an unknown reason the small-sized bus veered off Front Street and into a telephone pole, ripping the pole in half. The bus came to a stop on the crest of an incline, approximately 12 feet down. The 45 year old male bus driver and a 16 year old female passenger were transported to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton. The 16 year old was apparently asleep at the time of the incident and suffered potentially serious injuries. Three other female passengers were riding the bus at the time of the incident. One received minor injuries and two were uninjured. They all declined transport. This portion of Front Street, near the busy Liberty Bay Auto Dealership intersection, is still closed at this time while utility crews work to repair power lines.
