Polar & Kila (keela) are now 5 years old. They are siblings that were rescued from a Pasco Washington kill shelter. The 9 pups and their mum were dropped off at the shelter when they were just 2 weeks old. A shelter worker contacted a Canadian border collie rescue group who he knew had rescued dogs (even if they weren't pure bred). The group agreed to take all 9 pups and the mum. They posted the pups and the mum on their website (that'll do border collie rescue) in January of 2004. We were matched to Kila and headed up to Vancouver Canada to pick her up and complete the adoption process. The pups were nearly 6 weeks old and everyone was there to adopt 8 of the pups. We saw Kila sleeping cuddled up next to Polar. So we asked who was adopting Polar. The rescue group said we were the only ones that asked for either KIla or Polar. So since no one else had even inquired about Polar we asked if there was any way that we could adopt both pups. The group has never adopted out two pups to one couple before but they agreed since no one else wanted him and that we were willing to make the commitment for both pups. Next thing you know we are driving back home with very young puppies. These two dogs are truly inseparable. When we walk them and go to dog parks nearly everyday, we get the same question: What kind of dogs are they? And also a comment on how well behaved they are. The pups mum is a smooth coat tri-color border collie and we believe that the father was most likely great pyrenees. The other 7 siblings are very similar in the coloring and and coat thickness and behavior. These dogs are smart, beautiful, well behaved, and very loyal to us.
