SO earlier the news said that there was only about 100 students at the GK (Graham Kapowsin) walk out.
This is not true!
There was far more then 100 students, there was over 500 students.
THe news also said that we stopped because the administrtors threatened us with suspenion.
Well they did threaten us with suspenion AND being arrested!
Even though we could have gone to prison we continued to walk for 5 more hours, peacefully and quietly.
The teachers may say we are not supporting them but in truth we are. WE as a generation are finally using our voice and speekin gup about these layouts and the education of students.

I remember that day, one of the proudest in my life. Regardless of threats we walked out the doors and used the rights our soldiers die to defend. We protested, and while it might not have done much to change the eventual outcome, it meant alot to us

Its been a year since the strike. And now they want to cut teachers again. Maybe they did't get the picture. Anyone for another Walk Out?

Lt. Ehren Watada you are my hero! In an increasingly evil country who has made murder and torture 'just another day in the life low lives that have Ivy League degrees it is 'good' to see decency prevail.

If you have to cut the budget, get rid of the HIGHER up staff members and keep the teachers that education our children. Cut the principals, Dean of students, and keep our educators, our kids need them!

Out with the old teachers, in with the new! support our teachers and have the older ones retire! How about cutting Bethel Staff Members that are useless, annoying, cowards, and a joke for the district like KELLY BOYNTON!!!!!

I believe what most people aren't realizing with the GK walkout is that it was not only students that walked out there was also teachers that walked out so in actuallity they wouldn't be wasting the teachers time if there teacher was out there also.

Pardon my opinion and I realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I must say to Brad that it's pathetic how you would condemn students for sticking up for what they believe in. Please work on your grammar before criticizing others.

For all of those who attended the Bethel District walk out come to the Bethel School District Budget meeting on May 7th at 7 pm. It will take place at North Star Elementary. THIS is where and when we need to protest! Wear black and bring your signs!

I think a lot of students went on the walk out for all the wrong reasons. A lot just did it to get out of class, not for the teachers sake.

Wow.. if this is the type of students at this school makes you scared for our future. The above poster is right, these kids just wanted a day off of class, they dont even know all the reasons behind walking out, other then no class and to be stupid.

My daughter supports the teachers, however in respect to her teachers, she remained in class. Instead, she states, the students should "walk-out" on Saturday. A day that shows the students are willing to sacrifice their time, not the teachers.
