This is just a start! I have herb seed starts in the house and some seeds that have been sown in the garden that have yet to sprout.
Soon I will have all of my own fresh herbs, lettuce, arugula, chard, beans, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, and potatoes. I have also plated a bunch of edible ornamentals such as Nasturium, Calendula, Chamomile, Akibia, Lemon Verbena and blood veined sorrel.
I have also put up a Mason Bee nest to help pollinate my plants, a compost bin and a worm bin to reduce my trash (and my trash bill) and to use as fertilizer to keep my garden growing.
Rocks that I collected from around my house create natural looking border (rather than specind money on stones, bricks, wood or plastic)
Thanks to an article on KOMO, I have covered the beds with red chili flakes to try to keep the cats out. It doesn't seem to be working though. Might have to resort to a fence or blackberry brambles...
All of this probably sounds like a lot of work. However, I do this for my health, both mental and physical. PLus, I will be saving money and te enviroment by eating as locally as I possibly can.
