I am on a prayer list that regularly receives updates about this patient and his family. I have not met them. I see an opportunity for something very concrete that the community can do to change the lives of an entire family in a very positive way. Background Story
On October 26, 2008 our son, Austin Peterson was in a motorcycle accident on Bickford Ave in Snohomish. We are unclear as to what happened to cause this incident but on impact he lost his helmet and received severe head injuries. Austin has not regained consciousness since. Austin had what seemed to be a very good day today. I was so very happy to see him with both of his eyes open! This doesn't mean that he is awake yet, but he seems to follow our voices with his eyes. We were with him all day and he seems to be resting comfortably. He still has a pretty high heart rate which concerns us all, but they are trying new meds to control it. The high heart rate is caused by what they call storming, which is all part of having a head injury. I really hope the storming starts to go away soon! That seems to be pretty much it for today. We will keep the updates coming! Thank you all for your prayers!

Austin was very tired yesterday and didn't much feel like working very hard.
The speech therepist postponed giving him the sucker because he just wasn't participating. She told Mark that he could let him try tasting one later when he was more alert. Mark let him taste a sour apple one later in the day but austin didn't handle the saliva very well and started coughing. It is just going to take a little time for him to put it all together.
We will keep trying.
I am hoping to try and bring Austin home on the weekends for the day, so now we are on a mission to find a very affordable handicap equipped van to buy. It costs way too much to hire the cabulance twice a week.
anywho! I will write more later.
