HUMANITARIAN WORK IN MAJOR LEAGUE

Miguel Batista, on his day off from spring training, visited and gave a motivational talk to students at Coronado High School, Scottsdale, AZ. The students had the chance to share comments with the Major League pitcher, to ask a lot of questions, not only about his life as a baseball player but, as a writer and his future in these two paths. At the end of it, the students were able to get his autograph and pictures with the poet.
Also, yesterday, the newspaper, “Diario Libre,” from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, sent to him through his mother, the certificate as one of the Men of the Year 2008, for his humanitarian work and sense of service, that he gives not only to his compatriots in Dominican Republic, but also in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, among others
