Washingtonians are a hearty breed. I've dealt with 2 apartment floods. Unfortunately the last one left me with enough mold exposure to scar my lungs and cause some fibrosis. ALLWAYS make sure you completely dry every inch of your homes after a flood.
But, I still choose the North West over any area in the country. Mold between our toes, floods, dehumidifiers in our clothes closets, sandals and socks, summer dresses over three layers of leggings. Even one winter of 90 consecutive days of rain (lol),didn't phase us.
Vibrant Scarlet, Neon Orange and Yukon Gold leaved trees lining 37th Ave through Mt. Baker neighborhood in the fall. Hot summer sunsets on Lake Washington.- a fuschia sunset reflecting off Bellevue High-rise windows. Hearing the snow crunch under my feet on midnight walks through new Columbia City snow. It's so quiet you can hear a car door close across the valley on Beacon Hill. LOL
Fields of rainbows in the Skagit Valley, ahhh...tulips. There is always SOMETHING in bloom in Seattle.
But its also the people. Unlike other cities, we make eye contact here. People actually smile at strangers. People like the Hummer owner I saw on the news during the snow storm. He drove around the area pulling stranger's cars out of snowbanks. People of all races and nationalities, orientations & classes gather on a rainy night, warming up on Pho in a small, full Jackson.St. eatery. The Fremont Bridge Troll. *smile*
Neighbors helping each other dig out of the mud. Farmers opening up their fields to the hungry. A wise little soul who's dying wish was to feed the homeless. What amazing people.
This is Seattle, we have water everywhere...
