There are a few big tractors and snow plows out on these roads right now, but mostly people are walking. There are very few cars, a LOT of hidden slick spots, and several businesses are closed. Those that are open are all but empty, and looking at closing. I was in Bainbridge Bakers where there were 2 customers. There was a coveted cheese danish available as of 3 PM, which I bought. As locals know, these sell out by 9 AM on any weekend day.
A father and two kids were sledding down Madison Avenue. Someone appeared to have retrieved their groceries from Safeway on cross country skis with some success. The entry lane to the ferry terminal parking lot was extremely iced over despite their plowing and snow-blowing. 4WD and ABS were no match, however. A car was abandoned in the waiting area of the queue, and I would advise avoiding this parking lot completely.
Side roads are not plowed, and accumulation is getting to the point where regular cars are getting stuck in the middle of the road despite chained up tires.
If you have to go out doing so on foot is recommended, however, walking in the middle of the road when cars are coming is very much not recommended.
Be safe out there!
