December 21, 2008: Fremont, Seattle, buried in snow! A strong winter storm blew through much of Seattle and its surrounding areas, beginning on December 19. An intersection in the neighborhood of Fremont, just west of Wallingford, is shown before and after two heavy coverings of snow.
Cars lining Whitman Avenue North and 43rd Street haven't moved much in the last two days, and many people who live on hills haven't been able to park in their own driveways. Many Fremont and Wallingford streets are covered in rock-hard sheets of ice under the snow, making driving very difficult.
Fremont's long-held reputation for oddity seems to be reinforced by the presence of a lone shopping cart amid heaps of snow.
