The Champions Foundation set out to make history November 22nd - 23rd, by giving away $30,000 to church attendees at the Champions Centre in Tacoma and Bellevue, WA. The move was prompted by a desire to launch a "generosity stimulus package" to kick off the holiday season.
Church attendees had no idea what was about to happen as they entered into service that day. Pastor Kevin Gerald led the service with an inspiring message on generosity - calling this the Season to Smile on Another - the parable of the talents (found in Matthew 25 in the Bible) and then concluded the services with a surprise. He asked a representative from each family to stand. Ushers then handed out sealed envelopes. Pastor Gerald then told the audience that inside each envelope was money - some envelopes contained $5, some as much as $500. The envelopes were distributed completely at random.
The charge was given to recipients to gather family and friends together and come up with ways to take the "talents" in the envelopes and multiply them. December 22nd, the recipients will come back with the results, and collectively celebrate together the successes.
All funds brought back will go to the Champions Foundation to further the work and the projects locally, nationally and internationally. Locally including giving presents to over 2000 kids and families this Christmas in the 17th year of Operation Blessing. Internationally with the Champions Forever Home in Johannesburg, South Africa for AIDs orphans. Along with several other initiatives you can find at www.championsfoundation.com
