My partner and I were driving our RV from Monroe to our parking spot in Gold Bar and saw the town of Sultan underwater. We stopped and asked around if we could help. There was no media there, just locals and emergency crews. Everyone I talked to was surprisingly chipper.
People of all ages were helping with the sandbags, from toddlers to seniors and everyone in between. Those who couldn't lift them got the bag ready to be filled and tied the full ones shut.
The bags were placed on palettes and delivered by forklift to the places that needed them. All the businesses near the flooding had sandbags in front of their doors. On the west end of Main street, someone waled through the water, towing a canoe with a child in it.
Energy drinks were offered to the volunteers along with free coffee.
