(Poulsbo, Kitsap County) Poulsbo Fire Department and North Kitsap Fire and Rescue responded to a residential structure fire around 3am this morning north of Babcock Street on Highway 305 south of the Hood Canal Bridge. When crews arrived, they found a medium sized garage fully engulfed in flames. The roof of the garage had already burned off and the garage doors were just beginning to collapse as firefighters began attacking the fire. Firefighters noticed a smaller fire on the corner of the nearby house. That fire was quickly extinguished, but the garage took 20 minutes to get under control. The home was unoccupied and appears to be undergoing renovation.
Kitsap County Fire Marshal Craig Hanson says, “This fire is very suspicious.” Damage estimates are unknown at this time but the garage is a total loss, as is a nearby shack. There were no vehicles in the garage at the time of the fire. There is minor damage to the home.
