Last weekend was the Port Angeles' Arts in Action Festival with wonderful weather and people lined up to see all the vendors.
Its was full of good food, old cars, sand castles and Arts and Crafts - all art forms.
The sand castles entries were voted on by the people with a wooden coin after donating 1.00 dollar for each person. I wish I could display them all - quite creative.
The old cars were quite a catch at this little city by the sea and you could enter a contest to win a Sporty Race car.
There are allot of local artists making salmon but Clark Mundy is a must see - he has developed a newer technique (working with copper plating) that adds dimension and depth to the fish of several varieties. His 3D salmon is pictured and will be in the Port Angeles mall and he will continue his efforts to make 3D salmon. His work can be seen@ http://www.coppersalmon.com/
Yukie Adams - not related to Ansel Adams, is a local artist who produces serigraphs. Unbelievable art if you like the American Indian/Alaskan Tlingit art or drawings. I did a book report for a college art class in March and met her at the Gig Harbor art and crafts festival where I purchased a serigraph. I got to ask her what the objects in the serigraph represented and the entire story of the picture. View her work@ http://www.raveneaglegifts.com/index.php
Just thought I would drop a line and let everybody know that it was a wonderful event with a variety of things that were outstanding. My wife and I went to the (Port Gamble) Kitsap Arts and Crafts which was very similar to the Gig Harbor Arts and Crafts festival except Port Gamble is a little cozier.
The weather was better than forecasted and provided all with an opportunity to sport sunglasses and sun block.
I am from Bremerton but my wife Dana and I enjoy looking at original arts and crafts from local artists on the weekends whenever we can? You get to talk to them and learn new things even if you don’t buy anything at all.
