The Mt Adams Fire has now spread to over 8,000 acres with the winds and dry weather. Wildfires are spreading everywhere in washington state. People need to be extra careful in areas where campfires are still legal at this time, (Skate Creek being one of them)between packwood and ashford. Act responsible and make certain your campfire is dead BEFORE you leave it! I don't know how many I have put out personally that have been left to burn, it is frustrating to think someone could use this absolutely beautiful forest land and not care wether it is usable to everyone else tomorrow due to one persons carelessness. Everyone else suffers for that individuals lack of action. It takes just a few minutes to put out a fire.
And for those who simply flick that cigarette butt out the window think twice. Use a bottle of water in your vehicle and put the butts in it.
