My little brother goes to school at Morton, WA. We live in Mineral, WA - it's a 17-mile drive to and from the school. He has to go over a mountain pass every single day to get to school. Today, the weather was horrible. The snow was coming down, and no matter how fast the plows went, it would just cover up the road right after they left.

The mountain pass is notorious for being extremely icy. Today, three cars had a collision, and this stopped traffic coming to and from Mineral and Morton.

My little brother has been stranded at the Elementary School. They're keeping the kids entertained with movies and games - heck, it was getting so late, on top of all the snacks they were getting - they even had dinner!

We were going to go and retrieve him, but as time wore on, the roads just got worse. Not only are more and more cars spinning and swerving all over the roads, but after numerous phone calls (just to tell him that we loved him and were waiting for him at home), the time just streched on and on.

School got out for him at 2:45PM. It is now 8:00PM. It's pitch dark outside, and as the wind and snow continue to fall, we wait for the road to open. And every time we call, the more the night wears on.

For everybody's sake, I hope the kids have to spend the night at school. There's a foot of snow on the ground. I don't want to see how a bus with snow chains would fare in a snowstorm, full of rowdy and sleepy kids.
