Midnight Rendezvous

I was awaken at 2:30am to a loud hooting in the distance. Immediately following each distant hoot was a nearby chirp that sounded as if was coming from the deck just outside my room. I peeked out the window to see two shadows. One I knew to be our plastic owl used to deter woodpeckers in the area. I wondered for a moment what the other shadow could be? A cat? A raccoon? I quickly got my camera and switched to night portrait. Being dark both inside and out I could not tell exactly where I was pointed but I took the shot. Amazing! Both the plastic and live owl in the exact same pose and looking directly at me. Inspired, I put on a pot of coffee and had a great...but long day.
