“We’ve got 60,000 books to give away – how much food do you have?”
That’s the challenge issued by bookseller Once Sold Tales and Northwest Harvest, partnering for the “Books 4 Food” drive this October.
Non-perishable food donors can choose 1 free book per food item from Once Sold Tales Bookstore Outlet’s entire stock.
Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 9pm at 22442 72nd Avenue South in Kent.
Up to $60,000 worth of books, movies or music will be given away to help support Northwest Harvest.
“I’d love to see that much food come in for Northwest Harvest, “ says bookseller/owner, Carrie Jenott. “Families are depending on food donations this winter, and the need has increased.”
Since 1967, Northwest Harvest has supported food programs throughout Washington with approximately 24 millions pounds of food each year. Individual food donations comprise 75% of their distributed food.
“We hope this challenge will encourage the community to rise to the occasion,” says Jenott. By partnering with Northwest Harvest, we know we’re making a meaningful difference.”
