John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting plays STAR Stage

STAR 101.5 fans joined together Wednesday to listen to John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting play at Fisher Plaza's STAR Stage.
A group of STAR listeners called in or entered online, and won a chance to meet John Ondrasik, receive his autograph, and have their photo taken with him. The lucky winners also received lunch from Pac Island Grill, as well as a reserved seat in the audience to watch Ondrasik's live show.
The amazing performance was played acoustically on guitar and keyboard. Ondrasik opened with "100 Years," closed with "Superman," and also included hits "Slice" and "Chances" from his current album Slice.
Ondrasik answered questions from the audience and gave brief insights for each song. For example, the title track "Slice" was penned over coffee on a table napkin with Academy Award-winning composer Steven Schwartz.
Philanthropic dedication was an on-going theme during the performance. Ondrasik spoke of the many philanthropies he runs or participates in, especially those dedicated to the hardworking servicemen and women in our country.
For the Troops, conceived and produced by Ondrasik was also discussed, and is "a series of compilations featuring superstar recording artists that are available for free to every active service member in the U.S. Armed Forces," according to their website. The last collection, For the Troops III, featured comedians exclusively, and the next edition will feature music from artists like Matchbox 20, Brandi Carlile, and Mat Kearney.
The event wrapped up with group photos and autographs for all attending fans. If you missed the event, you can check out the extensive photo gallery, or watch the video.
Don't forget to listen and check back to the STAR 101.5 website so you don't miss the next chance to win great prizes, and maybe even a chance to see your favorite star.
