Any analysis of online behavior has revealed that while women Tweet more often than men, they also gripe less and talk about work more.

Social media monitoring company Brandwatch has crunched the numbers, and according to their math, men and women behave very differently on Twitter -- chiefly, men complain more and talk about their personal lives less frequently, while women are more likely to use the social network to enter contests and discuss television programs.

Brandwatch also found that women tend to dominate conversations about things like food and drink, as well as apparel, while ports and news events make up the bulk of men's Tweets.

On average, female users send around 15 messages per day, whereas men send just nine.
