Seattle grunge icons Mudhoney graced the stage at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, but that's probably not the thing that's making the local legends the most nervous. Tomorrow, the band will be playing the actual top of the Space Needle. Not the observation deck -- the top. With harnesses.

There won't be an audience or tickets for the event, but Mudhoney's website assures that the nail-biting performance will be recorded.

The Space Needle takeover kicks off a weekend of music and comedy in celebration of independent record label Sub Pop's 25th anniversary. Friday night, the Moore will host a comedy showcase that will benefit Northwest Harvest, while Saturday will see the Sub Pop Silver Jubilee, a free day of concerts in Georgetown.

Mudhoney will play the Jubilee at 7:15, and will be followed by Built to Spill. Other artists include Father John Misty, Shabazz Palaces, and several acts who have yet to be announced.

In April, Mudhoney released "Vanishing Point," their ninth studio album on Sub Pop.
