Well, this is a little surprising. Matt Lauer, whose relationship with the "Today" show seems to be growing ever frostier, may be seeking greener pastures -- including, possibly, one of the most beloved game shows in America, according to Page Six.
Following a heart attack last year, rumors have been swirling that "Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek may be eyeing retirement -- but who could fill his place at the lectern? Sources say Sony Pictures Television (who makes the show) has a few options, including silver fox Anderson Cooper. However, Lauer's contract with "Today" is up right around the same time as Trebek's, causing some speculation that Lauer may be the next to step up and ask the questions.
Lauer has widely been blamed for the "Today" shows slip to the second-most watched television program in its spot.
Rumors have also been swirling that Lauer may be getting the same treatment that Ann Curry received from the show just months ago -- a move that has also been blamed on Lauer.
