Gabe Joseph

Engineering

Gabe Joseph is the only guy in our station who knows the business from both ends of the Microphone cable. He was part of the KMIH (Mercer Island) curriculum as DJ & music director, moving to Western (Bellingham) and honing his DJ & news coverage skills at KGMI and KAFE.

One day he recognized he was the only person at the station who knew how to program the microwave (usually for popcorn); and was absolutely the only person who knew the station had other kinds of microwaves too ... so he moved to engineering. That decision led to his joining our team in 2004 as a full-time engineer (where he not only supports our radio stations, but our sister station KOMO-TV). While his skills are invaluable to keeping us on the air, we mostly understand he's one awesome "go-to" guy to show us how to reheat a subway sandwich in our microwave (which makes him our "HERO hero").

But all kidding aside, we value the work Gabe and others in our Engineering team do. They keep the station on the air and keep it sounding great. They set up remotes for folks like Kirby, John & Ken and Bryan (because we find it's much more effective for them to broadcast remotely than to just yell to our audience through a megaphone). Sometimes our engineers have to climb our broadcast towers ... you'll know that's happening when you hear Gabe screaming "Cool .... I can see my HOUSE from here".
